Containment: Containment was a U.S. foreign policy introduced at the start of the Cold War, aimed at stopping the spread of Communism, and isolated within its current borders, otherwise the supposed "domino effect" would occur. The policy emerged when Eastern Europe was under political control. Containment expanded to cover parts of the world, leading to US involving themselves in Korea, Vietnam, and elsewhere.
Marshall Plan:
Where U.S. aided economically for European countries post-World War 2. This was implemented in 1947 and provided $13 billion in loans to deteriorated countries in Europe. This promoted a positive image for the U.S..
Truman Doctrine:
This was a principle used by the US to give support to countries or peoples threatened by communism or Soviet forces. This was first expressed in 1947, seeking aid for Greece and Turkey. This was seen as from some as the declaration of the Cold War.
